Raising a Family in Athens County
I have lived in the Athens area for almost my entire life. I knew from the beginning that I would stay and raise my children in this wonderfully warm and loving community. I currently live in Albany with my husband Ian, a contractor in Athens, and our son Braidin, who will be attending Alexander Kindergarten in August.
My roots in this area run deep: I grew up in Albany, a small community about 10 minutes from Athens, graduated from Alexander High School, and completed my Associate degree in business management and entrepreneurship at Hocking College. I consider Athens my permanent home, and honestly can’t imagine leaving the area. My family and I love it here and are excited to welcome you to our community! |

Outdoor Family Fun Activities
|
|
| When I think about Athens County I think of the beautiful scenery it has to offer. There is absolutely no match for Athens in the fall. The colors of the trees across the hillsides are a sight that newcomers will be sure to cherish as they call Athens their new home. And then there is Spring, a season I truly enjoy. The cherry trees along the Hocking River on OU’s campus present bursts of color as they begin to blossom. The various lakes and parks begin to bustle with sun-seekers and outdoor enthusiasts.
As a mother and wife, my family and I all these outdoor activities and more. Come visit Athens and ask me where all the hot spots for your family are. You’ll be surprised by the variety; whether you are looking for solitude, family-friendly spots, site-seeing, hiking, swimming, there is something for everyone.
A popular pastime for my son Braidin is riding his dirt bike and four-wheeler, someday hoping to partake in a race on one of Athens area many racetracks. What I love even more than the track is the great group of supportive parents that help their kids learn how to enjoy this sport. Outdoor life doesn’t stop there for us – my family also loves fishing, hiking, bike riding and exploring the hills, hollows, and rivers of our little patch of paradise. So come to Athens and enjoy the outdoors – I’m sure you and your family will fall in love with Athens County and everything it has to offer! |

Out and About!

When it comes to community events, The Athens Real Estate Company goes above and beyond.
*We sponsor Ohio University Men’s basketball games where we do a small promo during the first quarter to get all the eager O.U fans up in their seats are raring to go. We invite clients and their families down on the court to participate in all the fun too!
*This year was our first year participating in the polar bear plunge at Stroud’s Run State Park. Our efforts rose over $1500 dollars for Special Olympics.
*Jessica Skinner and I sponsored a booth at the 2011 Athens Bridal Show held at the Athens Recreation Center.
*My favorite event thus far was 2011 Kid’s Fest, an event open to the public to raise funds to support Athens County Children Services. We offered free face painting and a logo redesign contest which the all the kids loved.
*Last, but certainly not least, this year we hosted NAR’s National Open House Weekend. Our company alone featured 20 open houses, gave out free popsicles, lemonade, cookies, and had a springtime cook out. Did I mention the Power 105.5 WXTQ Athens Jambulance was also there, with the entire event hosted by Robin Barnes?! I started something new this year that no other agent in the area has done. In order to make the process of home buying and selling easier, I brought along Steve Haren, loan officer of Century National bank, and Mark McKinniss, owner of Allstate insurance, to answer questions and concerns on-site.
*Next year I expect our events to big bigger and better than before. But we are not done for this year just yet. Look for me tossing candy and “amping” up the crowd in our company truck at this year’s Parade of the Hills and others. So come out and join us for community events. I hope to see all of you there! |
